With Valentine’s day right around the corner everyone is asking what to get their loved ones this year. Significant others, moms, and sisters would really appreciate something to show you actually love them. So here’s a little help for those idiots that have no clue:
The first and most important thing is PLEASE buy flowers for any of the girls in your life. I know it’s cliche but we love it. If you are not sure what your valentine’s favorite flowers are, buy their favorite color or something else other than roses. I personally think roses get a little old. The least expensive flowers for the best quality will be at Trader Joes. You can personalize your picks and go above and beyond by wrapping them in paper and a bow. If you need help with that, look up a tutorial on Tik Tok. Other than that, you can go to any grocery store.
If you are a little low on cash right now there are plenty of homemade options, but this does require effort. Pinterest and Tik Tok will be your best friend in this process. First of all, homemade cards can be adorable and personalized. You can add little love notes or cute messages in the card with some drawings (look to the left for a cute card example). But if that’s too sappy for you, you can paint hearts on a canvas for decorations or do some origami. Finally, some of my personal favorite ideas are a homemade tie blanket with fabric from Hobby Lobby, a reason I love you jar, or homemade desserts.
Tie blankets can be personalized with different fabric textures and designs to fit your valentine’s interests. Plus, everyone loves a good blanket. They are also super easy to make once you figure it out. The reason I love you jar will guarantee a smile on your valentine’s face. To make that, all you have to do is write down some ideas on pretty paper and fold them up. Find a cute jar for your notes, and maybe decorate it, then you are done! For homemade desserts, chocolate strawberries are the way to go for beginners and they always turn out great!
If none of those gifts appeal to you, here’s some more. Right now you can go to quite literally any store (Target, Walmart, or Dollar Tree) and get some candy or cute stuffed animals. Just please keep in mind it means the most if you get something your valentine will like. Do some research before you just go buy any candy or chocolate. Another thing most girls like is candles for their rooms. With candles, there are so many cute options and scents so you can add some thought into your choice. Additionally, Stanleys are all the rage right now. It doesn’t matter who you are, anyone could use an emotional support water bottle (even my dad loves his). There are so many color options online or at Dick’s. The last thing you can never go wrong with is sweatshirts. I would recommend a Nike hoodie or Abercrombie one in your valentine’s favorite color. And if you know how to embroider, put your initials on the sleeve!
Finally, let me address the number one mistake when buying valentines gifts for moms or girlfriends. The infamous heart jewelry. It can be cute, but it can also be tacky. No one wants the classic big silver heart with the infinity symbol. Do your valentine a favor and buy the cute dainty gold heart, they will love it I promise.
Buy this.
Do not buy this.
