NDCL Says Goodbye to The Class of ’23

Editorial

The British define it as an examination to qualify successful higher-education candidates. However, this is not tea and crumpets; it’s Munson Township, so with that, I will define it via Websters: a religious service held at an educational institution before commencement, containing a farewell sermon to the graduating class. Graduating class. The word ‘class’ referred to the honored students and the gravitas of their leader, Principal Waler, who presided over his final Baccalaureate ceremony.

In the beginning, a quiet moment signified the loss this community shared just a day before with the passing of longtime beloved faculty member and PE teacher Mr. Joseph Spicuzza. However, it was quickly stated that he, too, would have wanted things at NDCL to progress, and part of that progression was letting the seniors go. Even though they still have a stage to cross on May 26th, today signified the moment they leave home and the friends they have known for the last four years. Teachers, parents, siblings, students, and yes, we even let the Freshmen attend – all celebrated what turned out to be a great day at NDCL.

You know what? We will see you here tomorrow because this passing only marks a new beginning!
