Imagine waking up to the warmth of the sun and the smell of pancakes, freshly brewed coffee, donuts, and Lion Stadium. On September 25th, 2023, the senior class of 2024 joined and did just that to watch the sunrise. The weather was perfect, with a crisp windy breeze and breakfast for all who entered.
Principal Ricci and Mr. Brlecic agreed that the seniors could not have asked for a better beginning to their double late start on Monday morning. Fresh fluffy pancakes were made along with provided donuts and refreshing coffee to wake us up, and some people even brought their breakfast or items to share with the group. Overall we seniors expect this tradition to grow in the years to come and hope the small sacrifice of one extra hour of sleep was worth Senior Sunrise enduring for years to come. Another great memory in the books from our time at NDCL!

ON A SIDENOTE: MY TRIP TO PANERA – A short order of epic breakfast proportions
I went in the morning to buy crunchy, warm cinnamon crunch bagels from Panera that were toasted to perfection and served with honey walnut cream cheese. It was by far the best bagel I have ever tasted, but lacked fluffiness. Although the bagel had the right seasonings, it was a bit dry regardless of the cream cheese being put on it. I prefer Bruegger’s Bagels, but we must get what we can in a rush to beat the sunrise. For a whole bagel, I recommend grabbing two spreads of cream cheese, whether plain, chive, onion or my favorite honey walnut. But you may be feeling like you want to share this with others, so get one of their group packs and a group of friends and enjoy the morning, but hurry because if it is a school day, you need to wake up early as they open at either 6:30 or 7:00 a.m. depending on the location and if it is not a school day then make sure you wake up and get there before 10:30 when it ends.
