NDCL and The American Red Cross partnered for their Operation Holiday Cheer Drive! All week, students have been asked to bring in a variety of food and hygiene products to donate. Some of these products included packaged snacks, toothbrushes, shampoo, and deodorant. Any time this week during the school day, students could walk down to the cafeteria and place any items into the donation boxes set up. As the week went on, we watched as the items in the boxes accumulated, which brought so much joy to our school community. All of the items collected throughout the week were donated to the military soldiers in Poland.
To make this already special operation even more exciting, all classes competed to see who brought in the most significant number of items by the end of the week. However, any student who participated and brought in at least two items to be donated had the opportunity to dress down on Wednesday. This brought the students a little more excitement and joy and encouraged them to participate and give back. On Wednesday, almost the entire school was dressed down, which showed just how many students brought in items for the soldiers.
At NDCL, it is crucial that we come together and support causes that we care about. Various fundraisers and charities have been held throughout the years for organizations worldwide. This week is a valuable time for students to participate and give back to those who need and deserve it. Giving back positively impacts our community and can make a real difference in the world, too. By participating and getting involved, students make a positive impact and develop valuable skills such as teamwork, leadership, and empathy. Overall, it allows students to learn more about the actual value of giving back to others.
