The Christmas season at NDCL is a time filled with joy, faith, and community. It’s a time when both students and staff come together to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ and reflect on the true meaning of Christmas.
One of the many highlights of the Christmas season at NDCL is the celebration of the Advent season. Advent, which means, “coming” in Latin, is a time of preparation and anticipation for the birth of Jesus. During this time, the school community gathers for special Advent prayers and reflections, focusing on the themes of hope, peace, joy, and love. The celebration of Mass plays a central role in the Christmas season at NDCL. Students and staff attend Mass together, the choir sings hymns, Fr. Caddy reads Scripture, and we each receive the Eucharist. The Mass, as well as the school campus, feature beautiful decorations during the Christmas season, including a nativity scene and an adorned Christmas tree.
In addition to Mass, special prayer services and liturgical events are often organized by NDCL Campus Ministry in the Chapel. These events provide opportunities for students to deepen their faith, reflect on the significance of the Incarnation, and come together as a community to pray and worship. Another cherished tradition at NDCL during the holiday season is the choir and Christmas concerts. Students have the opportunity to showcase their God-given talents through music, drama, and dance. These performances not only entertain but also serve as reminders for everyone of the true reason for the season.
Community service and acts of charity are also emphasized during the Christmas season at NDCL. Students participate in various service projects such as collecting donations for the less fortunate, the Giving Tree, as well as going on Labre. The acts of charity embody the spirit of giving and help students understand the importance of helping others during this special time of the year.
