Welcome to the second week of favorite bible quotes from our very own NDCL students! This week’s bible quote comes from our Junior, Maya Rowan! Maya was eager to share this verse after finding out it was an option to let the NDCL student body, and more, know about the verse that resonates the most with her. When asked, Maya exclaimed that her favorite bible verse is Matthew 6:21! She clarified that this is her favorite because “Whenever I read it, I am reminded that my priorities and values reflect what I truly care about and calls me to focus on what truly matters to me.” Specifically, I asked her: What person, thing, or event evoked your calling to this verse? Maya resumed, “It is especially relevant in my life currently because of my attendance at Kairos. This retreat opened my eyes to all the blessings around me and I suddenly became closer to the new people that God brought into my life.” Thank you, Maya! If you are a Junior or Senior and haven’t attended Kairos yet, hopefully this encourages you to sign up! Although, if you are still an upperclassman and debating whether or not it is worth it, take Maya’s word for it! Try to remember this verse this week as you encounter things that may lead you questioning the people or things around you. Remind yourself of the true friends and love that is around you, including God, appreciate it, and never forget it!

Love this quote Maya! I am so glad you enjoyed the retreat- it changed Joy in a great way. My interpretation of the verse- you can claim to love or care for causes and people, BUT your actions (where you spend valuable resources like time and money) is what REALLY shows people and God how you feel/where your heart REALLY is. Fantastic write ups Joy!
