Watching an action-packed, romantic comedy is the perfect night to spend. And lucky for you, Prime Video’s new movie Shotgun Wedding was just released on January 27th. In this new film, Darcy and Tom, an engaged couple played by Jenifer Lopez and Josh Duhamel, have planned a destination wedding on a remote island in the Philippines. Unfortunately, some unexpected guests arrive on the morning of the big day. Pirates crash the ceremony before the bride and groom even come and demand a large sum from the bride-to-be’s wealthy father. The rest of the wedding guests are then held, hostage. Embarking on a dangerous adventure around the island, the couple must find a way to dodge the pirates and save their loved ones from danger. A movie filled with thrilling action scenes and heartwarming love, this film truly has something for everyone. Plot-wise, however, the storyline may not necessarily be considered complex. The film contains the familiar elements of danger and deception with comedy throughout. A seemingly expected plot twist also occurs near the end of the movie. Though lacking significant depth to the storyline, the film is still worth watching for its creative blend of genres. After all, simplicity and quality are not mutually exclusive.
