Every time I try and repost something to my Instagram story, what do I click? The button labelled “Threads”.
What exactly is Threads and why do I keep pressing the button for it every time I try and add a post to my story?
Instagram Threads is a text-based conversation app that launched on July 6, 2023. At first glance, the Threads experience is a lot like Twitter…
Both platforms offer a feed of text-based posts that allow users to follow what’s going on in the world and start their own conversations. On it, you can view and share public conversations. You can also post threads, reply to others, and follow profiles you’re interested in. Threads and replies can include short pieces of text, links, photos, videos, or a combination of them.
The app, created by Mark Zuckerberg, is currently being dubbed the “Twitter-killer.” How can you replace Twitter?
Back to how this inconveniences people: What even is Mark Zuckerberg’s objective here? More clicks and downloads? If so, that is not the strategy to work for me. In truth, it is so aggravating that it honestly makes me want to uninstall the app. (Just kidding, no it doesn’t. All my reels go viral).
Why did he have to put it in the most inconvenient spot? The “Add to Story” button was always the leftmost option, it’s like muscle memory to click there.
Apparently, I’m not the only one to feel this way.
Taking to Reddit, there’s a plethora of users who also share the same complaints as I.
Just as I’ve hypothesized, this intrusive switch to the Instagram app acts as a marketing ploy to increase app traffic for Instagram Threads. But it does not seem to be working quite as Zuckerberg intended, as people are more annoyed than urged to download the app to discover it for themselves.
But alas, we leave it up to you, the readers. Do you have Instagram Threads and what’s your experience with the app? Do you mind missing the add to story button constantly? Let us know.
