NDCL winter sports are just right around the corner! As the fall seasons and fall playoffs wind down, let’s see what’s in store for winter sports!
Boys Basketball:
Last year, boys basketball set an all time record in school history with wins and made a run to the district final. This year, the Lions return two seniors and look to build off of last years momentum. For the second straight year, the team opens up the season against St. Edward at Baldwin Wallace. Come out and cheer on the Lions this year!
Girls Basketball:
Last year, girls basketball finished 11-13, including a first round playoff win over Youngstown East before falling in the second round to Copley. They have 4 seniors this year to bring some veteran presence to the team. The girls open up the season against Hawken on November 21 at 7pm. Be sure to come out and cheer on the Lions this year!
Boys Bowling:
Boys Bowling opens up the season on November 18 vs Crestwood. The Lions look to improve after last year’s 5-14 finish. The team returns 4 seniors. Come out to watch the team bowl some strikes and win some matches!
Indoor Track:
Indoor Track has their first meet on December 7 at 10 am at Akron University. Senior Rob Bonchak looks to have another dominant season after his 4×400 State Championship, and the teams 4×4 State Championship. Come out to cheer on the Lions this year!
Girls Bowling:
Girls Bowling returns 2 seniors, Allie Wiseman and Josie Mislay. They look to continue the momentum from their 9-5 finish last season. They open up the season at Roseland Lanes on November 18. Come out to cheer on NDCL this year!
Swim and Dive:
Swim and Dive looks to continue the momentum from senior Brooke Dynes’ state appearance last season. Their first meet is at Perry High School on November 25. Come out and cheer on the Lions this season!
Gymnastics:
Gymnastics returns 4 seniors this year. With veteran leadership, the team is looking to have a very successful season. Come out and cheer on the gymnastics team this year.
Wrestling:
Wrestling returns 4 seniors this year, which is good for the leadership of the team. Their first meet is on December 5 and 6 at Hawken, times TBD. Come out and cheer on NDCL this year!
Hockey:
The hockey team returns two seniors this year, Klara Stergar and Colin Krajnak. They look to build off of last year’s playoff momentum while also having a very young roster. The Lions open up the season on Saturday, Nov 15, at 6:15 vs. Nordonia at home (Mentor), come out and cheer them on!
