Today at NDCL, the FORCE was with the Lions as they celebrated “May The Fourth.” Lightsabers and Yoda ears found their way into the halls of Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin. Students and Faculty alike participated in the fun to let loose as the year here winds down. Enjoy our gallery below.
Star Wars Day is an informal commemorative day observed annually on May4 to celebrate the Star Wars media franchise created by filmmaker George Lucas. Observance of the day spread quickly through media and grassroots celebrations since the franchise began in 1977.[1][2]
The date originated from the pun “May the Fourth be with you,” a variant of the famous Star Wars catchphrase “May the Force be with you.” Even though Lucasfilm did not create or declare the holiday, many Star Wars fans worldwide have chosen to celebrate the holiday.[3] Lucasfilm and parent company Disney have since embraced it as an annual celebration of Star Wars.
The release date of the original Star Wars movie, May 25, 1977, is celebrated by some as Geek Pride Day.[4]
