As the third quarter comes to a close, it’s hard not to feel the weight of how fast this year has flown by. It feels like just yesterday we were walking into school after winter break, setting goals, promising ourselves this would be the quarter we stayed organized, tried harder, or stepped a little more outside our comfort zones. Now here we are, looking at the calendar and realizing there’s only one more quarter left.
The third quarter is always a strange mix of exhaustion and determination. The days are still long, the assignments still stack up, and yet there’s this quiet shift in the air. Spring is around the corner. Seniors are counting down the lasts—last games, last performances, last first days of a new quarter. Underclassmen are starting to understand that time really doesn’t slow down just because you want it to.
There’s something emotional about realizing we only have one more quarter. One more stretch of early mornings. One more round of tests and projects. One more season of practices, rehearsals, lunch table conversations, and hallway laughs. The routine we sometimes complain about is the very thing we’ll miss when it’s gone.
This third quarter carried more than grades. It carried growth. It carried the days we pushed through when we were tired, the small wins no one else saw, the friendships that got stronger, and even the mistakes that quietly shaped us. It wasn’t perfect—but it was ours.
Now, with just one quarter left, there’s a bittersweet feeling settling in. It’s the realization that moments are becoming memories in real time. The inside jokes, the pep rallies, the random Tuesday afternoons that didn’t seem important at the time—they’re starting to feel a little more meaningful.
So as we close out this quarter, maybe it’s not just about finishing strong. Maybe it’s about being present. About appreciating the ordinary days before they turn into the “remember when” stories. About giving this last quarter everything we have—not just for grades, but for the experience.
Because before we know it, we’ll be looking back at this year and wondering how it went by so quickly.
One more quarter. Let’s make it count, Lions! 🦁 💙
